3D Printed Manual Centrifuge

About

Improvement on current model [highly medical]

A centrifuge is an expensive device used by biologists and chemists to separate liquids of different densities through rapid rotation. The 3D Printed Manual Centrifuge is a manual version that enables safe biological processing in low-resource health labs across the world. It consists of three components, all connected through a 3D-printed hub. Attached to one side of the hub is a tube holder; attached to the other is a salad spinner. The tube holder comes in three different sizes (1.5ml, 15ml and 50ml), allowing users to fill the tubes with varying biological specimens that are then spun by the salad spinner. Each individual component is digitally printed, so parts can easily be replaced, or even sent digitally to international maker spaces, if broken.
