Co-Life Water Purification System

About

Low cost water filtration system intended for use in low-infrastructure environments

Co-Life is a portable water filter system for use in low-infrastructure environments. Using common, easy to find objects such as the soft drink bottles and a bicycle pump, Co-Life creates a simple and efficient system for purifying water. Pressure provided by the bicycle pump compresses water in the “dirty” half of the unit, forcing it through a low-cost ceramic filter that removes harmful microbes and bacteria. This filtered water is then collected in Co-Life’s “clean” side. The device is designed to provide easy access to its interior for fast cleaning and filter replacement. By repurposing harmful waste to provide clean water, the Co-Life Water Purification System makes use of scarcity to stimulate innovation in sustainable, universal design.
