Water Farm

About

Harvesting drinking water from natural water sources in floating communities

The issue of water scarcity is expected to become increasingly challenging in the future. Water Farm is a solution for water scarcity targeted at floating communities. The project is a low-cost, low energy and sustainable system using Hydrogel to harvest drinking water from seawater. With hydrogel, a passive desalination process can be achieved through its flexible uptake and down-take capabilities. Hydrogel capsules sitting above seawater absorb vapour from the constant evaporation of the ocean, and subsequently release clean water which is collected in a floating structure made from locally sourced materials.
