Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Ben is completing his Master of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. His research focuses on miniaturizing silicon photonic biosensor systems for point-of-need applications and developing integrated optical frequency comb lasers for metrology. Beyond his thesis, Ben is a Chip Designer at Dream Photonics in Vancouver, specializing in optical packaging. He has also gained valuable international experience through research internships in Suzhou, China, and Hamburg, Germany, and has worked in both the automotive industry and an electrochemical biosensor startup.
