The Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences is often referred to by its abbreviation “IAMAS.” A graduate-level educational institution founded to explore the fusion of technological innovation and artistic creation, IAMAS strives to transmit new forms of culture and to serve as a hub for the cultivation of new creators for our information society. Since its establishment, many talented people have honed their skill at IAMAS and gone on to work in a wide array of fields related to media culture and industry, garnering high esteem both in Japan and abroad. IAMAS’s diverse programs have evolved with the changing times: with interactive design and media projects that generate new tools and techniques, media art that explores new kinds of creative expression, and social design that envisions new possibilities for society, IAMAS abounds with passion for pioneering the unknown.
