Coral Reef Rescuer

About

A marine robot supporting the regeneration of coral reefs

The Coral Reef Rescuer is a marine robot supporting the regeneration of coral reefs. The latter house nearly a quarter of marine life species and provide direct or indirect support to more than 500 million people worldwide. This mother/child-style robot was designed in response to the fact that coral reefs are being damaged worldwide due to overfishing, global warming, acidification and pollution of seawater. The Manta Ray-like ‘mother’ robot provides functions of water monitoring, accommodating and loading, while the jellyfish-like ‘child’ robot carries bio-cement to perform 3D printing repair operations.
