NextStep is a smart mobilisation system designed to enable early, safe mobilisation of intensive care patients. By integrating AI-assisted monitoring with physiologically adaptive support, it identifies clinically appropriate times for movement and temporarily takes over medical care during mobilisation. Floor projections and stabiliser sensors guide and monitor the patient, while personal audio options enhance comfort. NextStep reduces workload for clinical staff, encourages autonomy, and improves outcomes by embedding movement into routine ICU care

Katrine Struve
Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design
Katrine Struve is a communication and industrial designer with a background in psychology and a focus on healthcare and socially relevant challenges. She combines analytical research methods with design practice to create patient-centered and evidence-based solutions in both 2D and 3D media. After completing a degree in Communication Design at Muthesius University of Fine Arts in Kiel and spending a year at the School of Art and Design of Saint-Étienne in France, she developed a strong interest in interdisciplinary approaches. Her current Master’s in Medical Design strengthens this perspective by exploring how design can improve medical processes, products, and experiences.
Fynn Stolt
Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design
Fynn Stolt is a German industrial designer with a focus on furniture and future-oriented perspectives. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design, he gained professional experience at Please Wait to be Seated in Copenhagen and at ACO in Germany. Currently, Fynn Stolt is pursuing a Master’s degree in Medical Design at Muthesius, exploring the intersections of design, health, and innovation
