About

Robotic third arm to augment human ability

Project Shiva is a wearable robotic arm that enhances human capability and foresees a future where people are equipped with more than two hands. Wearing a specifically designed harness, users can attach one or more robotic arms. The arms are manually positioned by hand or commanded via voice and gestures. Project Shiva’ s mechanical arms can carry out coordinated tasks, such as dancing, screwing in bolts, or providing passive assistance like holding a tool. Inspired by the lack of innovation in wearable robotics outside of skeletal and prosthetics research, Project Shiva seeks to find a balanced relationship between the human body and robotic attachments.
