Wired networks consume vast amounts of electricity, but not all energy is equally clean. This work introduces carbon-aware approaches that reduce emissions by adjusting how data is routed, scheduled, and stored based on the carbon intensity of the energy available in each region. It also enables precise tracking of emissions for individual data flows. These methods help internet providers and content platforms cut emissions without added cost, offering a practical path to greener digital infrastructure
