Excelscope 2.0

Excelscope 2.0

About

More than half of the world’s population is at risk of malaria, yet current diagnostic methods are time-consuming, expensive and require specialist training. Exceslcope 2.0 is a low-cost digital microscope that allows malaria to be detected quickly and easily by automating the analysis of blood samples. The microscope uses a smartphone camera paired with a contra-lens to increase magnification. The camera captures multiple fields of view and an algorithm determines the number of malaria parasites present, automating the process and drastically reducing the workload of medical professionals.
