GelPure

GelPure

About

GelPure is a cutting-edge solution designed to capture and retain harmful per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from drinking water. These "forever chemicals" are linked to serious health issues, including cancers and immune system impairment. GelPure’s polymer gels effectively remove PFAS down to parts per trillion (ppt) concentrations, meeting the stringent regulations set by the US EPA. This cost-effective, regenerable technology has demonstrated success in reducing PFAS, such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), below regulatory limits, offering a scalable solution for safer drinking water

Brandon is a passionate polymer engineering graduate at The University of Akron, focusing on developing materials for water remediation targeting emerging contaminants like PFAS. He has contributed to research on the recyclability of polymers, publishing in journals such as Macromolecules and Polymers. Through senior leadership roles in clubs and research, he has been able to participate in conferences and competitions, make connections with industry, and help other students do the same. He recently completed National Science Foundation's Innovation-Corps program interviewing 120+ individuals in the water sector to better understand their needs and how his team could better deliver value.
