About

KUKUA is a growth monitoring device tailored for children aged 0-5 in sub-Saharan Africa, addressing the region's malnutrition-related fatalities. Designed for easy use in challenging conditions, it measures weight, height, and arm circumference using a load beam sensor, measurement tape, and rotary sensor. Data is transmitted via an app for swift diagnoses. KUKUA's blend of analog and digital measurements provides accurate growth data in remote areas, enhancing healthcare and aiding early malnutrition detection.

Hello, my name is Julia Arntz, and I’m a designer for children's well-being and for play. I believe that the future lies in meaningful, tangible, and open-ended toys for children. I graduated with a Bachelor of Industrial Design from the Technical University of Eindhoven. I am now graduating with my Master's in Integrated Product Design at the Technical University of Delft. After finishing this, I’m considering the option for a possible PhD or a specializing in the Master Design for Kids & Toys at Politecnico University in Milan.

She describes herself as a rigorous, critical and ambitious person who excels at the intersection of mechanics and holistic design. Ariadna feels motivated in front of transdisciplinary projects that addressing contemporary social challenges.
