Project Overview

About

People who have lost the ability to walk due to spinal cord injuries struggle with transferring from their wheelchairs and end up with more injuries. Sometimes they prefer not to move because no one is around to help them or simply they just don’t want to ask others. Paraladder has designed an aid for them to move from their wheelchairs with comparative ease.

we are a team of two industrial design student working with a SCI charity (Hana charity) located in Iran-Isfahan. based on the research and interviews with SCI patients we figured one basic need of their life; which is moving between wheelchair and other surfaces like ground, sofa etc... The current products are far from enough for their need, so we designed a new generation of foldable Paraladders to help patients with Spinal cord injury ,paraplegia, move easily between their wheelchair and other surfaces with different height. ergonomic factors and design methodology in at least 5 phases has been done (planning - discover - define - design - evaluation).
