Pazapa

Project Overview
About
School playgrounds play an indirect role in reinforcing patterns of exclusion based on gender. Often, a central part of the playground will be allocated for boys to play sports games that require a lot of space, while girls will place themselves in small groups in the surrounding area. Pazapa is a game that aims to address gendered use of space at an early age, teaching children about respectful coexistence. Colourful tiles are used to divide up the playground, first as a board game and later in real space, inviting children to discuss and agree on how to share their play area in a fair way.
