ReGold

ReGold

About

Electronic waste contains valuable gold, yet conventional recovery often requires energy-intensive smelting and can produce hazardous emissions and chemical waste. ReGold uses a highly porous electrode material that selectively captures dissolved gold from liquid produced during electronic-waste processing and converts it into recoverable metal. Tests demonstrated rapid recovery and more than 1,000-fold selectivity for gold over competing metals. The recovered material could be reused in high-value electrochemical applications, reducing reliance on mining and making resource recovery more practical for smaller, decentralised recycling facilities.
