Rehabilitation Smart Orthosis

Rehabilitation Smart Orthosis

About

Rehabilitation Smart Orthosis aims to design a 3D-printed knee orthosis enhanced with electrical muscle stimulation. Integrated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors capture joint movements, while Electromyography (EMG) sensors monitor muscle activations. By identifying deviations in movement patterns, the orthosis uses a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) unit to deliver corrective electrical impulses, prompting patients to adjust and optimise their movements. This innovation aids proper walking and ensures effective rehabilitation exercises by promoting correct movement techniques.
