TARC introduces a dynamic, year-round energy-efficient roofing solution. Unlike traditional roofs that struggle under diverse weather conditions or inadvertently increase heating costs, TARC consistently moderates indoor temperatures—keeping interiors cooler during hot weather and warmer during cold—without extra energy or manual adjustments. Outperforming conventional coatings, especially in regions with significant temperature swings, TARC holds the potential to reduce household energy costs by up to 10%.

Yuguang Yuan

Yuguang is a seasoned entrepreneur and engineer, Yuguang previously co-founded a Series A startup and led a team of over 100 people to dominate a niche market. He also spent eight years working in various roles across three countries for a global Fortune 500 company. Yuguang is currently pursuing his MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Prof. Junqiao Wu
University of California, Berkeley
Professor Junqiao Wu is a professor and current Chair of Materials Science and Engineering at UC Berkeley. His honors include the 29th Ross N. Tucker Memorial Award, the US-NSF Career Award, the US-DOE Early Career Award, the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from the White House, the Outstanding Alumni Award from Peking University China, the Bakar Faculty Fellows Award, elected Fellow from the American Physical Society (APS), and the John Bardeen Award from the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS). He is currently on the Chair line of the Materials Physics Division of the American Physical Society (APS), and is the Chair of the UC Berkeley Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
Ruihan Guo

Ruihan Guo is a PhD candidate in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of California, Berkeley. She is leading the technological development of TARC. Her track record includes showcasing her ability in translating academic technology into profitable business prospects. With prior experience as CTO who successfully led a technical team and facilitated a start-up's acquisition, she is a proficient entrepreneur capable of taking an idea from conception to market.
Dr. Jiachen Li
University of California, Berkeley
Dr. Jiachen Li is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at University of California, Berkeley. He earned a Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from UC Berkeley in 2022. Before that, he graduated from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China with a B.S. degree in physics and as a member of the prestigious Tsinghua Xuetang Talented Program. Jiachen is an inventor of the TARC and the following upgraded generation (one U.S. patent and one U.S. provisional patent pending). He was recognized by Forbes as a finalist of the 2023 30 under 30 list in Energy.
