Worm Generation

Project Overview
About
Plastic waste continues to grow in almost all known and unknown regions of the planet. The project investigates the use of biological agents, mealworms and superworms, to convert plastic into organic matter using their natural digestive process. Experiments were executed in order to understand the eating behavior of the mealworms. They showed that the mealworms can consume polystyrene initially by eating the outer layer of test blocks. Methods were then developed In order to incentivise the worms to penetrate the styrofoam and increase the rate of consumption.
