SOAP

About

A democratic urban sanitation station

Homeless people have limited-to-zero access to the basic hygiene items against COVID-19. Project SOAP (Sanitizing Open Access Point) aims to make essential hygiene accessible for everybody in the city, regardless their situation. . SOAP is a simple soap container that connects to any water source available in the public space. Its open source design makes it possible for anyone with a 3D printer to manufacture and install it.

We are Milagros Trucco and Jorge Giovino, design students at Universidad Nacional del Litoral, in Argentina. During these weeks we spent in isolation, we worked together in this project called SOAP (sanitizing open access point) in order to give design answers to this unexpected and changing context. After some research we realized that the measures proposed by leaders left many people behind, and that solutions provided in this situation must be accessible, easy to make and replicable in the whole world.more
