Terracold

About

An electricity-free self-cooling fridge

Terracold is an alternative fridge design that allows for the outdoor storage of fruits, vegetables and drinks. Large parts of the global population currently store all of their food in refrigerators, consuming a considerable amount of electricity. Terracold proposes a zero-energy alternative by using the ancient technique of evaporative cooling. Users simply fill the terracotta bricks with sand and water regularly in order to allow moisture to ‘breathe’ in and out of the fridge’s walls, keeping the contents inside cool.
